Costing a job before you order
Most interior consumables — vinyl wrap, contact adhesive, fabric dye, headliner spray — are sold in fixed units that each cover a certain area. Costing a job comes down to three numbers: how much area you’re covering, how far one unit goes, and what a unit costs. Divide the first by the second, round up to whole units, and multiply by the price.
The rounding matters as much as the arithmetic. Because you can’t buy a partial roll or tin, a job that needs three-and-a-bit units is really a four-unit job — and running short mid-way can mean a visible batch mismatch when the replacement stock doesn’t quite match. This tool does that rounding for you and totals the spend so you can budget before you commit.

How does the estimator work?
It divides the area you need to cover by the area one unit covers, then rounds up to a whole number of units — since you can't buy part of a roll or tin — and multiplies by the unit price for the total cost.
What counts as a 'unit'?
Whatever the product is sold as: a roll of vinyl wrap, a tin or cartridge of adhesive, a bottle of dye or vinyl paint, a can of spray. Enter how much area that one unit covers (from its label or your own experience) and its price, and the tool tells you how many to buy.
Which units should I use for area and coverage?
Any area unit works — square metres, square feet — as long as the area to cover and the coverage per unit use the same one. The price and total come out in whatever currency you enter the unit price in; the tool doesn't assume a currency.
Why round up to whole units?
You can't buy 3.3 rolls, so a job needing 3.3 units means buying 4. Rounding up is deliberate — running a fraction short mid-job usually means a delay, a second order, and sometimes a visible batch or dye-lot mismatch when the new stock doesn't match the old.
Should I add extra on top of this?
Often, yes. Coverage figures on labels are nominal and assume ideal conditions; wraps around compound curves, offcuts, and practice pieces all eat material. For anything you can't easily re-order in the same batch, buy a margin above the estimate.
